Rd 9 vs Clermont Bears

Tigers travelled to Clermont hoping to avenge their earlier season loss to the undefeated Bears. Tigers were brimming with confidence after their dominance in the first half against 2nd on the table Bluff the previous but it didn’t continue onto the field with Clermont jumping out of the blocks to an 12-0 lead after 7 mins.

With both sides trying to assert dominance the game was halted with a serious leg injury to Tigers 2nd Rower Jordon Parekura which he was transported from the field by Ambulance. After the resumption of play and the Coach Chris Catip  the boys were finally kicking into gear. Tigers put 3 tries on through Austin(2),Downie(1) to trail 18-16 at the break.

2 mins into the second half the Bears broke the line and went to an 8 point lead. With some strond defence from both teams the points dried up for a period. Once the scoring resumed Clermont got out to 28 whist after 2 disallowed tries the Tigers posted points with 8 mins to go. The score was 28-22 to the home team. Ricky O’Donnell went over in the corner and the try went unconverted leaving the Tigers 2 points adrift until 40secs from fulltime where Ray Downie converted a penalty goal to draw the match level and finish the game.

Tigers would like to wish Jordan Parekura all the best with his recovery.
