Our clash against the Crushers was a shaky one as we had alot of team changes in the fina 2 hours before the match. We had a few drop out with illness on the day. Added into the squad late was u18’s Connor Jones and making his debut Koby Scott.
The game started off with hard hits and good stucture from both sides.Neither team looked like budging and the half time score was level at 10 a piece. Blackwater had the considerable size advantage but look disjointed at times with the fowards. The smaller Tigers pack hed their shape well and chipped away at the defence.
Tigers showed good movement in the first 20 mins of the second half and skipped away to a 24-10 lead. Some ill-discipline and foundamental mistakes from the Tigers let the Crushers back in the match and with 9 minutes to go it was once again level at 24 all.
Field Goal shots were taken by either side but none succesful. It came down to a massive bomb put up by Ray Downie where Blackwaters fullback fumbled and Connor Jones picked up the loose ball and scooted 30m to seal the game 28-24.
